For the last few weeks, we’ve seen glimpses and exciting casting announcements from Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. But at long last the full trailer for the upcoming Paramount+ series is here. And it has us more hyped than ever for the series, which debuts in May. It certainly looks like the series Star Trek fans have been waiting for since Anson Mount, Ethan Peck, and Rebecca Romijn first popped up as a trio of iconic characters in Star Trek: Discovery.

We’re certainly excited to see Captain Christopher Pike, Number One, and Spock taking to the stars and beyond.  The trailer is both mesmerizing and funny, indicating we’ll see the best of Star Trek in the series. Pike says, with full gravitas, in the trailer, “Our mission? To chart the stars, to push the boundaries of what is known and what is possible.”

The trailer features the Enterprise crew on the surface of a comet, seeking new life, and even finding love. And naturally, they face a whole lot of great danger along the way. As the trailer indicates, Strange New Worlds is set in the years Captain Pike commanded the USS Enterprise. But it won’t be too long before his future protege shows up. Paramount+ has already commissioned a second season, which is currently filming. And Paul Wesley is beaming aboard the show , playing James T. Kirk.

Rounding out the cast are Jess Bush, Christina Chong, Celia Rose Gooding, Melissa Navia, and Babs Olusanmokun. Bruce Horak will recur as Hemmer. But Mount, Romijn, and Peck aren’t the only actors playing legacy cast members. Gooding is playing Cadet Nyota Uhura. Akiva Goldsman wrote and directed the premiere episode, with a story by Goldsman, Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet. The trio also serve as executive producers.

The 10-episode first season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds debuts on May 5, with new episodes dropping weekly on Thursdays.
