At New York Comic Con this past weekend, the crew of the starships Enterprise (both D and E) gathered on stage for the Paramount+ Star Trek panel. And the Star Trek: The Next Generation cast had quite a gift for fans, as they debuted the season three trailer for Star Trek: Picard, which shows the full reunion of the primary TNG crew, together for one last adventure. You can watch the new trailer for Picard’s final season right here, and then we’ll unpack all the juicy surprises it has for us.

For starters, we see the trailer begin with Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) back in Ten-Forward, having a drink at Guinan’s bar on Earth. That’s when he learns about a distress call coming from his former Chief Medical Officer, Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden). Picard has to gather his former crew to rescue their old friend. According to McFadden, Beverly is out in deep space in a 25th-century version of Doctors Without Borders. We see Riker (Jonathan Frakes), Geordi (LeVar Burton), Troi (Marina Sirtis), and Michael Dorn, who plays the now pacifist Worf. We can’t wait to see how that philosophical change occurred for the Klingon warrior.

One of the biggest casting reveals from the trailer was the announcement of Amanda Plummer as the season’s primary antagonist, the alien Vadic. In a nice bit of symmetry, Amanda’s father, the late Christopher Plummer, played the Klingon General Chang in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. That means two generations of Plummers played the final villains for their respective Star Trek casts.

But that’s not all the surprises in terms of villains. First, the holographic Professor Moriarty, who appeared in two classic TNG episodes, is also somehow back. And once again played by actor Daniel Davis. And we knew Brent Spiner would be in the final season, even though his character Data is dead. It turns out he’s playing Data’s evil twin Lore, who has somehow now aged like a human. Who put Lore back together? We’re dying to find out.

The cherry on top of all these reveals though is the debut of a certain brand-new starship. Alongside the Titan, Captain Riker’s ship, we also saw the debut of the new U.S.S. Enterprise, NCC-1701-F. This latest Enterprise was actually first designed for the Star Trek Online game, and now Picard brings it into canon for the first time. Who is her captain? We’ll hopefully find out the answers when Star Trek: Picard season three debuts on February 16 on Paramount+.
