You know how we’re always complaining there are too many movies and TV shows to keep up with? And how Hollywood should just slow down for awhile? Well, uh, “good news.” We all have a lot more time to watch everything we want.

Also, we don’t have to worry about new releases adding to our backlog. Filming has been delayed on almost every production. And since theaters around the world are closing to help slow the spread of COVID-19 even movies that are already finished are being delayed. The now includes three horror films from Lionsgate: Chris Rock’s Saw reboot Spiral, Antebellum starring Janelle Monáe, and Run with Sarah Paulson.

Lionsgate announced (in news we first heard at Deadline) it’s pushing back the release of three films. That includes Spiral: From the Book of Saw, which stars Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson, the time-bending slavery horror film Antebellum with Janelle Monáe, and the psychological thriller Run, which stars Sarah Paulson.

Antebellum was scheduled for April 24, followed by Run on May 8 and Spiral on May 15.

The studio has not listed new dates for any of the three movies. It’s unlikely they will anytime soon. No one knows how long we will all be practicing safe social distancing or even when theaters will re-open. There’s a very real chance we could still be under pseudo (or even mandatory) quarantine for months.

Lionsgate could delay some of these movies until after things return to “normal” too. Movies that had been filming and originally scheduled for next year won’t be ready. Fortunately these might be perfect for when that happens. What better way to follow up the horror of coronavirus than with something peaceful like the return of Jigsaw.
