SUPER MARIO BROS. Trailer Offers Princess Peach and Many Game References

We are all one day sooner to The Super Mario Bros. Movie being unleashed upon the world, and the anticipation remains high. Especially with those of us who grew up playing the Nintendo game day in and day out as kids. Folks remain excited despite some skepticism over Chris Pratt’s very off-brand voice as Mario. The long-awaited animated film hits theaters on April 7, and now we finally have another look. Take a look at the latest Super Mario Bros. Trailer below.

That first Super Mario Bros. trailer had a heavy focus on Bowser/King Koops being a big old jerk, and some very angry penguins leading a royal revolt. Meanwhile, Mario barely said anything at all. But in this new one, we see Mario a lot more, along with Princess Peach. You get to hear Anya Taylor-Joy lead her Toads, and she sounds perfect. There are also multiple Nintendo games represented in the Super Mario Bros. trailer, including Mario 1 and 3, Mario Kart, Luigi’s Mansion, and Donkey Kong (the character even gets a new design for the film). And that’s a delight for fans.

Bringing everyone together is the movie’s official poster.

You can also read the film’s synopsis right here:

To the Movies) from a screenplay by Matthew Fogel (The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, Minions: The Rise of Gru), the film stars Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike.

Universal Pictures/Illumination

A lot of the people named above have helped to create some amazing animated content in recent years. We’re all waiting to see if they can work their same magic with the wild and fantastical world of Super Mario Bros. Especially as this franchise means so much to several different generations who grew up playing the games. The Super Mario Bros. Movie hits theater screens on April 7, 2023, in North America.
