Ridley Scott has a very busy time ahead of him, at least, according to the director. Recently he shared that Gladiator 2 was “ready to go.” And now Scott has revealed details about two more items in his pipeline. On Scott’s to-do list: a Blade Runner TV series and an Alien show.

In news we first saw on Mashable, Scott shared details about these two shows with the BBC radio show Today. We’ve already heard about Scott’s Alien-based TV show in previous. At a Disney investor day, John Landgraf shared that FX was creating an Alien series. Legion showrunner Noah Hawley would helm the show with Ridley Scott. But very little further news came at the time.

Now, Scott offers this tease, saying: “Alien is now being written for pilot. You have to also write out the history, if it’s eight hours or ten hours, the bible of what happens in those ten hours.”

It sounds like the show continues to move along. Although it still feels very early in the process. The plot remains largely an unknown variable. Scott didn’t share anything more about it in this interview. But in previous interviews, showrunner Hawley revealed that this show wouldn’t be “a Ripley story.” Instead, “It’s a story that’s set on Earth also. The alien stories are always trapped… Trapped in a prison, trapped in a spaceship. I thought it would be interesting to open it up a little bit so that the stakes of ‘What happens if you can’t contain it?’ are more immediate.” The aliens are breaking free. And with eight to ten hours before them, we bet they can cause a lot of chaos. Protect your chests, everyone.

On another IP front, Ridley Scott announced some brand new information. He shared that a Blade Runner-based show was also in progress. He offered, “We’re already into having written the pilot for Blade Runner. So [we’re] already presenting Blade Runner as a TV show, which will probably be the first 10 hours.” This show appears separate from the Blade Runner anime, Adult Swim’s Blade Runner: Black Lotus.

Blade Runner’s world-building definitely awes us. With so many nuances and aspects to explore, a live-action Blade Runner TV show could offer the universe an ideal format to thrive. Scott didn’t share anything about where a show might fit into the universe. And with two movies and an anime before it, the show could go in many directions. Black Lotus already set out to explore the world between films. But there are always more stories to tell, including the backstory to the first movie. We definitely can’t wait to hear more.

Although we only have sparse details on both the Blade Runner show and the Alien show, the Ridley Scott Cinematic Universe continues to grow. We wonder if we’ll ever see any Gladiator/Blade Runner/Alien crossovers. Could Maximus take down an alien? Hard to say, but we wouldn’t mind finding out. Here’s hoping that soon we’ll get fuller looks at all these shows.
