We’ve seen the photos, the unreal transformations. And now we finally have our first official glimpse at Hulu’s upcoming surely chaotic new limited series Pam & Tommy. The eight-episode show, of course, details the infamous 1995 scandal in which Baywatch star Pamela Anderson and rocker Tommy Lee’s sex tape was stolen and released without their consent. The trailer shows the beginning of the sex tape drama.

Sebastian Stan has traded in his melancholy Winter Soldier persona for the Mötley Crüe drummer. And Lily James is a dead ringer for 1990s Pamela Anderson. It looks like we’re in for the titular characters’ whirlwind romance and marriage and the fallout from the sex tape theft and release.

The footage definitely gives us a look at the mess to come—and, of course, that iconic mid-’90s aesthetic. (I, for one, am very curious about the hair and make-up budget. Specifically, for the mullets, if nothing else.) However, we hope the finished product also emphasizes what a gross invasion of privacy it is. We’re at least cautiously optimistic they’ll attempt to fully unpack it throughout the eight episodes. But we’re hoping they fully stick the landing.

I, Tonya director Craig Gillespie helms the series, with Rob Siegel writing. Seth Rogen, who is also a producer on the series, plays Rand Gauthier, the man who, as suggested in the teaser, stole the tape from Pam and Tommy. Taylor Schilling plays Rand’s wife, Erica Gauthier, with Nick Offerman playing Uncle Miltie a.k.a. Milton Ingley, who distributed the sex tape. If his presence in the Pam & Tommy teaser didn’t suggest enough that he’s up to no good, hopefully, the fact that the show credits him as Uncle Miltie—uncle to nobody in particular—really drives that bit home.

Pam & Tommy debuts on February 2, 2022.
