Pixar have long been one of the most exciting and vibrant animation studios out there. Though for some fans the fact they’ve been more focused on sequels to their most famed projects than creating fresh films has left them leaving wanting. Luckily, today they announced a brand new original movie with an all star cast including Tom Holland, Chris Pratt, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Octavia Spencer Octavia. Onward will be directed by Monster’s University’s Dan Scanlon and focuses on the adventures of two brothers–who also happen to be elves–on a quest to prove magic still exists. Our very own Amy Ratcliffe reported on the fantasy adventure when it was announced at D23 in 2017, where we got an idea of the setting of the new animated offering “It’s a modern fantasy world. Long ago there was real magic but it was hard to do and learn, so people lost interest. They created appliances to do what magic could: light bulbs, stoves, etc. Scanlon described the world as a mix of the fantastic and everyday. This world has no humans but fairies, trolls, and elves. Oh, and it has unicorns in droves. They’re the rodents of this world.”In the official press release producer Kori Rae and Scanlon gushed about their two leading men  “Chris brings equal parts huge heart and fantastic humor to his character,†said Rae. “Tom has an infectious charm and sincerity that makes you root for him in every character he plays,†said Scanlon. The pair are clearly just as excited about this animated team-up as we are, and if you are too then keep your eyes peeled as we’ll have all the Onward news as and when it hits!
