We’re officially in our Obi-Wan Kenobi era. The Jedi Master is one of the most pivotal characters in the Star Wars franchise. He’s a driving force throughout the Skywalker Saga, and now he’s snagged his own TV series on Disney+. As far as Star Wars’ timeline, the Obi-Wan Kenobi series takes place ten years after Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. It will help fill in some of the time between Obi-Wan’s first appearances in the Star Wars franchise and his presence in the prequels. Fans who want to get the most out of the show will probably be looking to revisit all of Obi-Wan’s past Star Wars outings. And now they can do so with a cool supercut of Star Wars, which combines the prequel movies and the original trilogy to center Obi-Wan as the main character.

Take a look:

Director Deborah Chow has shared that we’ll see Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan move closer to the Alec Guinness version of the character throughout the series. And, obviously, the series has roots in both the original films and the prequel trilogy. But that’s really a lot of required watching to catch up on.

To make it easier, this Star Wars re-edit has brought together the best of live-action Obi-Wan Kenobi. According to Boing Boing, creator John Venzon shares more about his Obi-Wan Kenobi supercut:

Back in 2014, I did a re-edit of the original Star Wars making Obi-Wan Kenobi the main character of the film. It starts when Luke buys the droids and ends with Obi-Wan sacrificing himself so Luke and Leia can escape. That’s the arc. I work in the prequels as flashbacks to support the march to confront Vader. I structured it as a ’70s film, striping out a lot of what makes a ‘Star Wars film’ — no crawl, no Luke staring at the suns, and actual credits at the start. I’ve had it on Vimeo since 2014 and would make a great prep for the series!

The description also notes it is “A for educational fan re-edit shifting the point of view from Luke to Obi-Wan Kenobi.”

We’re about to get Obi-Wan’s POV in a big way. But the beauty of new Star Wars content is experiencing how it shifts our enjoyment of the already created content. And at the same time, getting to experience how the already created content informs the new material we get. This Obi-Wan Kenobi supercut concentrates Obi-Wan’s adventure thus far. It hits hard as-is and makes for an excellent pre-Obi-Wan Kenobi viewing material. But we’re sure it will hit even harder after we watch the series.
