The 1980s fantasy classic The Neverending Story is having quite a moment of relevance again in pop culture. This is all thanks to a delightful scene in the third season of Stranger Things referencing the film’s very “of-its-time” theme song. But in Germany, The Neverending Story’s moment never really ended (see what I did there?) And that’s because it was the most expensive movie ever produced in that country at the time. Kind of their own Lord of the Rings.

But did you know fans of this classic family adventure film can live out one of its most iconic scenes? As pointed out by Dangerous Minds, if you happen to be in Germany this summer you can hop on Falkor the Luckdragon’s back yourself and relive The Neverending Story’s most memorable moment. Well, aside from the once scene where Atreyu’s horse Artax drowns in the Swamp of Sadness. That one traumatized an entire generation. So most iconic happy moment, how about that?

To ride Falkor yourself, you’ve got to head to the city of Munich and go to a tourist destination called Bavaria Film Studios. It’s a sort of Universal Studios-esque destination, where most of the The Neverending Story’s props and models are on display. Aside from Falkor, you can also ride the giant snail from the film just like tiny Gluckuk, and see Mora the Turtle, Pyornkrachzark the Rockbiter, and a whole assortment of other characters from the movie.  And don’t worry, it’s not just for kids. They let adults ride on Falkor too. My friend (and super film nerd) Logan Crow was able to hitch a ride on the world famous Luckdragon a few years back, and as you can see from the pics above, it proved to be a very rewarding experience.
