Netflix is Finally Getting Its Own Version of THE OFFICE

Jan 21 2019 -- 8:00 AM

Netflix has The Office available in its library, but what it really would like--as would literally every other network and streaming site on the planet--is to have its own version of the wildly popular show. That dream looks like it will soon be a reality, after Netflix announced a spiritual workplace sequel to the beloved NBC series. The new series will see Steve Carell reunite with The Office co-creator Greg Daniels, and if you thought things could get wild at Dunder Mifflin, that's nothing compared to the premise of the new show. Like The Office, it will be about co-workers on the job, but they're working at one of the strangest, silliest, and most absurd real-life ideas in recent memory: the Space Force. On today's episode of Nerdist News, host Jessica Chobot shoots for the stars...but instead ends up behind the desk with the people tasked with implementing the president's concept for a sixth branch of the military known as the Space Force. The teaser announcing the series, which also marks Steve Carell's return to television, said their job will be to "defend satellites from attack and perform other space-related tasks...or something."

We're definitely all in on an idea that sounds like "The Office meets NASA," especially since having to deal with government bureaucracy could also mean the show draws from Parks and Rec. Plus, eventually we might get tired of doing yet another re-watch of The Office. Okay, maybe not, but there is one thing we're sure of: a Space Force is a really funny idea. But what do you think? Are you excited for the show? Are you glad to see Carell come back to TV? Your mission is to tell us what you think in the comments below.
