Ahead of its May 20 release date, fans of Netflix’s Love, Death + Robots can enjoy a surprise episode from Volume 3. Netflix has released one of the season’s episodes, titled “3 Robots: Exit Strategies,” directly onto YouTube. And even if you don’t currently have a Netflix subscription, you can check out this Love, Death + Robots Volume 3 treat. The episode contains love, death, and you guessed it, robots.
Netflix shares more about the episode in a release. The platform notes that “Three Robots: Exit Strategies” is “the first direct sequel in Love, Death + Robots history– rom the mind of acclaimed sci-fi novelist John Scalzi. The titular trio of droll droids return to take a whirlwind tour studying post-apocalyptic human survival strategies before mankind was finally snuffed out.”
The episode delivers everything noted on the label. And it asks a very important question, who among us would survive the apocalypse? (Sub question: “What exactly is a tech millionaire?”) We won’t spoil the ending, but it’s well worth your ten minutes to enjoy this beautifully animated and acerbically witty short. It will certainly leave you wanting more.
Of course, this is only a taste of what Volume 3 has on offer. Season three of the show brings to life nine new surrealist shorts for us to savor. From giant crustaceans and mutinies to elder gods to siren songs, this season has a little bit of everything. And, of course, the anthology series will offer a feast of different animation styles. As the season’s synopsis shares, in this show, “terror, imagination, and beauty combine.” You can read all about every new episode and watch the full trailer for Love, Death + Robots Volume 3, in our write-up, here.
As mentioned, all nine episodes release on Netflix on May 20. “Three Robots: Exit Strategies” will continue to be available on YouTube for a limited time.
