Peanut butter and jelly. SpongeBob and Patrick. Homer Simpson and Duff Beer. Some duos are simply unimpeachable, like Mike Flanagan and Netflix. The director has brought three stellar series to the streaming service: The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, and Midnight Mass. Now we have our first look at Flanagan’s next project for the site. This year’s Netflix Geeked Week delivered the debut teaser for Flanagan’s adaption of Christopher Pike’s 1994 horror novel The Midnight Club. It promises another winning entry from one of our favorite pop culture partnerships. All in time for the spookiest time of year.

Netflix tapped Rahul Kohli to introduce the first teaser trailer for The Midnight Club. The Haunting of Bly Manor star was a perfect choice to deliver this creepy introduction. He will also appear in Mike Flanagan’s next series for Netflix, The Fall of the House of Usher. We don’t want to wait too long for that show, but hopefully, we have enough time to recover emotionally from The Midnight Club before it debuts. We expect this series to scare us into watching it during the middle of the day rather than the middle of the night.

The show will bring best-selling author Christopher Pike’s novel to the screen. It takes place at a hospice for dying teenagers. As this teaser shows, there young men and women meet at midnight to share their best scary stories. That alone would be enough for a terrifying series. But things get even more sinister when they make a pact that whomever is the first to die will try and contact the rest from the afterlife. And as this promo makes clear, they’re dead serious about their plans.

Flanagan created the series with Leah Fong (Amazing Stories, Once Upon a Time). Elan Gale, James Flanagan, and Chinaka Hodge also serve as writers. We’re confident this group will prove to be a winning team based on what we saw in The Midnight Club teaser trailer. Why would we ever expect anything less when Mike Flanagan and Netflix get together?

The Midnight Club comes to Netflix in time for Halloween, October 7.
