Mario Makes the Leap to the iPhone!

In San Francisco, CA today, we learned that Super Mario Run will be coming to the iPhone with a new, one-handed, adventure to be released this December. Already listed in the iTunes store for early notification, the game will contain three different modes upon launch.

  1. The first mode features challenging courses for you to complete.
  2. The second mode you challenge the prior game data of other people who have completed the course in a speed run.
  3. And finally, what seems the most fun, is the creation of your own Mushroom Kingdom levels using coins you earn from the first two modes.

While gameplay itself is a tap game, with Mario running in constant motion to his inevitable doom, the creation of your own levels is a really nice addition. iOS users will be able to download and play portions of Super Mario Run for free and then purchase the full platform game upon its official release. Who cares about the iPhone7 when we get a new Mario announcement?

The game has been developed with Mr. Miyamoto as the lead creator for Nintendo and continues its partnership with DeNA for the launch. Which will be released in more than 100 different countries and in nine different languages.

For now though, to help iOS users get ready for the launch of Super Mario Run, a free Mario-themed sticker pack for iMessage will launch later this month, finally allowing us to have a Bullet Bill emoji. Additionally, in the official press release, Nintendo confirmed it’s plans to deliver its previously announced mobile device titles for Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem series before the end of March 2017.
