The late author Anne Rice spent many years trying to bring her legendary Vampire Chronicles series to the small screen. And now, it is finally here. AMC is debuting the first in their “Immortal World of Anne Rice” series this fall, with Interview with the Vampire. On Saturday, the producers and cast took to the stage at SDCC. And they gave diehard fans their first glimpse into this modern take on New Orleans’ most famous undead family.

They were joined by cast members Sam Reid (Lestat), Jacob Anderson (Louis), Bailey Bass (Claudia) and Eric Bogosian (the interviewer). Also on hand was production designer Mara LePere Schloop. The series synopsis calls it an epic story of love, blood and the perils of immortality.” The first full trailer debuted during the panel. And you can watch it right here:

And here’s the offical series synopsis from AMC:

Based on Anne Rice’s revolutionary gothic novel, Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire follows Louis de Pointe du Lac (Jacob Anderson), Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid) and Claudia’s (Bailey Bass) epic story of love, blood, and the perils of immortality, as told to journalist Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian). Chafing at the limitations of life as a black man in 1900s New Orleans, Louis finds it impossible to resist the rakish Lestat’s offer of the ultimate escape: joining him as his vampire companion. But Louis’s intoxicating new powers come with a violent price, and the introduction of Lestat’s newest fledgling, the child vampire Claudia, soon sets them on a decades-long path of revenge and atonement.

After shopping the series around for years, author Anne Rice finally sold the rights to 18 of her Vampire Chronicles novels and Lives of the Mayfair Witches books in May, 2020. The plan is to roll several series out in a shared universe of shows, which AMC has labeled them as “The Immortal World of Anne Rice.” The late author retains a posthumous non-writing producer credit, as does her son, novelist Christopher Rice.
