Game of Thrones is a show well-known for its many characters. And the show’s upcoming prequel, House of the Dragon looks like it will follow in that tradition. Newly released character posters not only tease the show’s new faces but also help remind fans who is who with handy short summaries. Let’s take a look at House of the Dragon’s major players:

HBO previously released much longer character descriptions for many of those who exist in House of the Dragon‘s world. But our brains can reasonably only remember so much. So we appreciate this more bite-sized approach. One sentence per character, that we can comprehend. And hopefully, the show will do a good job at integrating them into one another’s worlds, so we slowly get acquainted. Of course, loyal George R.R. Martin book readers will watch ahead of the curve. But the rest of us appreciate the cheat sheet.

A new image from the show was also released, with the caption “The reign of House Targaryen begins with fire and blood.” Ominous as ever.

But ominousness is the name of the game when it comes to Game of Thrones‘ world. House of the Dragon will release the first of its 10 episodes on Sunday, August 21. The Sunday release, of course, harkens back to Game of Thrones‘ domination of the day. It will air on HBO and stream on HBO Max.

The logline for the show shares:

Based on George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood,” the series, set 200 years before the events of “Game of Thrones,” tells the story of House Targaryen.

So know that we can expect fire, blood, and of course, dragons. What more could we ask from a show? Nothing comes to mind. We can’t wait to go on this adventure.
