We all need a little happiness in this time. We’re stuck at home sheltering in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We’re trying to stay centered, maybe we’re learning new skills. Like Witcher and Superman actor Henry Cavill. Thank the Kryptonian deities for Henry Cavill! Over on Instagram, he shared a hobby that is helping him get through the crisis: Warhammer 40,000.
Watching people paint miniatures is always incredibly calming, but seeing Superman turning his hand to Warhammer 40K is the relaxation tool we never knew we needed. Cavill shared in his post that the lockdown had inspired him to pick up his paintbrush and give an old hobby a new try. “…as you can see here, the obvious might look a little bit like a tiny helmet…which it is. One of my almost life long hobbies, that I’ve been following but not actively doing, is this. A company called Games Workshop…or plastic crack as ‘we’ call it.”
Cavill is clearly a huge fan of the popular miniature wargame and the shops that sell the kits, sharing ,”Genuinely can’t get enough of the lore they have built over the decades. They have been some of my most enthused reads! If you were in denial about me being a geek before, you can’t hide from it now.”
One of us! Though we’re not surprised after seeing him thoroughly geek out whilst explaining Geralt of Rivia’s swords in The Witcher.
Cavill also teased that eagle eyed fans might be able to spot something in the background. He says it’s “some completely new skills” he’s working on. Can you make anything out? Maybe it’s do with The Witcher. Or perhaps he’s penning a Dungeons & Dragons or RPG adventure. Who knows?! That would be the natural next step on this journey.
The actor also took the opportunity to share his gratitude to the real life heroes who are saving lives and keeping the world moving as the coronavirus crisis continues. He extended thanks to the NHS (UK’s National Health Service) and health workers worldwide. Painting miniatures and this? What a class act.
