For years, fans have been hearing about a proper Hellraiser reboot, and it seemed like the day would never come. Delay after delay kept Pinhead and the other Cenobites in Hell, waiting. But now that day is finally here, as Hulu has released the first trailer for their reimagining of the Clive Barker classic, which premieres on October 7 as part of the streamer’s Huluween event. You can watch it in full below. To paraphrase the original Pinhead, “they have such sights to show you.”

And here’s the official description for the 2022 Hellraiser, directed by David Bruckner, along with the poster art:

Hellraiser, a reimagining of Clive Barker’s 1987 horror classic from director David Bruckner, will debut in the US exclusively on Hulu on October 7 as part of the streamer’s annual “Huluween” celebration of fright-filled content. In the all-new Hellraiser, a young woman struggling with addiction comes into possession of an ancient puzzle box, unaware that its purpose is to summon the Cenobites, a group of sadistic supernatural beings from another dimension.

The description certainly sounds vastly different from the story we saw play out in Barker’s original film. Which, coincidentally, released 35 years ago this week. Giving us an all-new story was probably the way to go here. Especially since the original didn’t really focus on Pinhead, and he only had a few minutes of screen time.

Director David Bruckner made a name for himself with The Night House just a few years ago. And producer David S. Goyer was one of the chief architects of Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, as well as the Blade films. The new Hellraiser stars Jamie Clayton from Sense8 and Designated Survivor as our newest iteration of Pinhead. We have a feeling she will do Doug Bradley proud, based on this creeptastic trailer.

Hellraiser premieres on Hulu on October 7.
