Feeling a bit peckish? Want some morning nourishment? Feel like having…long pig? You know what I’m talking about. I’m talking about eating human beings. No, not literally! I mean indulging in a meal for your mind with everyone’s favorite erudite person eater, Hannibal Lecter. Even though he’s a serial killer and turns his victims into (admittedly delicious looking) meals, we can’t help but love him! He’s just so charming, and smart, and well dressed. And, sure, the eating, but whatever! We wouldn’t mind having a meal with him all the same. Within reason.

Mads Mikkelsen as Hannibal

NBC

And while we can’t get together with the real Hannibal Lecter, we’re all getting together to partake in the pilot of Bryan Fuller’s Hannibal series. We would love if you would join us!  On Saturday, June 6, at 12pm PT (3pm ET) as part of our #NerdistFromHome watchalong series, we’ll take to Twitter to talk about the episode, “ Apéritif,” as it plays. What’s better than that? Oh, probably having Bryan Fuller himself partake in the festivities.

Hannibal began in 2013 and ran for 39 episodes. Almost instantly it gained a rabid cult following, with its stark portrayal of the co-dependent relationship between FBI special investigator Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) and psychiatrist Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen). It was a perfect set up; Will needs Hannibal’s help to catch the most twisted serial killers without knowing Hannibal is the most cunning one of all! Mind games aplenty, and food porn courtesy of the show’s food stylist Janice Poon.

On Friday June 5, the whole series of Hannibal comes to Netflix. Watch the pilot with us on Saturday the 6th at 3pm ET. If you want to keep watching (and why wouldn’t you?) you can join the Hannibal fan community (known as “ Fannibals” of course) as they keep on watching. They’ll watch season 1 on June 6 and 7; season two on June 13 and 14; and season three on June 20 and 21.  Follow along with them with the hashtag #DiningWithNetflix.

Hannibal has always been a *ahem* feast for the senses, and getting to devour the entire series will be a delectable treat. Get a little taste with Nerdist and Bryan Fuller before you sink your teeth into the rest. If you think I’m out of food and eating puns…you’re right!
