I love It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia‘s Charlie. I love him so much I’d even be willing to try some of his favorite dishes. “Milk steak” covered in jelly beans? Yeah, get me a fork. But my love has limits. Specifically of the feline variety. Because I don’t care if it would help me sleep, I am never eating cat food. Purina clearly doesn’t want me to do that either. The company has released a free Fancy Feast cookbook for people. Don’t worry, though. These recipes only call for human food, even if your cat would probably like to eat them.
Fancy Feast has launched its new premier line of Petite single-serve entrées. To celebrate they also served up some tasty ideas for cat owners. Purina’s Petite Feast Cookbook provides human recipes inspired by some of Petites entrees for cats. Available to download for free, this cookbook features 12 recipes.
Fancy Feast’s in-house chef, Amanda Hassner, crafted the book. She also got contributions from James Beard Award Nominee Jerrelle Guy and actor-turned-baker Josh Snyder. And they delivered some genuinely great sounding dishes.
“From Chicken and Ramen with Tomato Honey Butter Sauce to Whitefish and Asparagus with Beurre Blanc, the cookbook features recipes that are elevated but easy enough to whip up on a weeknight,” said Hassner in a statement. “Each dish was inspired by the small-plate restaurant trend. The recipes are for humans but were created in honor of the dishes you will be serving your cat.”
Other options include Sage Cornbread Chicken Pot Pie, Salmon and Zucchini With Honey Miso Dressing, and Ancho Butternut Squash Chicken Street Tacos. I would eat all of them. They sound great. More importantly, though, they don’t call for actual cat food.
I love Charlie, but not his dining choices. Eating cat food isn’t my idea of a sunny day.
