Living happily ever after is only the beginning. Or, I mean, it’s literally the end of most fairy tales, but it’s just the beginning of this particular story. Fifteen years ago, Amy Adams proved she’s an actual Disney princess in the delightful Enchanted, where a fairy tale princess ends up in New York City. Now, Giselle and company are back for the follow-up. As revealed as part of D23 Expo 2022, Disenchanted will find our endlessly positive heroine raising a teenage daughter and trying to make the best of reality’s bad situations. Enough so to maybe dabble in some wickedness.

Speaking of wicked, Idina Menzel returns as Nancy, who ended up in the fantasy world with James Marsden’s vapid prince Edward. Patrick Dempsey is also back as Giselle’s husband Robert. New cast members include Maya Rudolph, Yvette Nicole Brown, Jayma Mays, and Gabriella Baldacchino.

The plot follows Giselle falling out of love with city living and looking for a change in the suburbs. Unfortunately, it’s not as magical as she’d hoped. Suburbia has a whole new set of rules and a local queen bee, Malvina Monroe (Rudolph), who makes Giselle feel more out of place than ever. Frustrated that her happily ever after hasn’t been so easy to find, she turns to the magic of Andalasia for help. In the process, she accidentally transforms the entire town into a real-life fairy tale. A-whoops! Now she has to act quickly to get her family’s future happiness back.

The latest Disenchanted trailer reveals more about how Giselle ends up going down her darker path and the Andalasian wishing wand that makes it all possible. And also gives us a new release date for the movie, November 18.

The first Enchanted proved a surprise hit. Stephen Schwartz and Alan Menken received three Academy Award nominations for their songs. Lucky for us all, they’re also back for the new chapter.

Check out the official poster for the movie below. It looks a lot like the original movie’s poster, which is fun. We think it’s fun anyway.

As mentioned, Disenchanted will now debut on Disney+ on November 18, a few days earlier than it’s original November 24 release date. But it still comes just in time for a Thanksgiving Day watch.
