They don’t yet serve Coca-Cola on the Moon. But as soon as mankind establishes a base on our lunar neighbor you know they will. They serve that iconic soda everywhere you find people. Our only real question is which version will we find when we get there. Because the soft drink company has launched Coca-Cola Starlight, a new flavor that promises an out of this world trip for your taste buds. But you’ll have to actually try it to know what stars tastes like.

Last year Coca-Cola announced its new developmental program Creations, which operates under the company’s “Real Magic” brand platform. And this week the program’s first limited-edition item hit stores. According to a press release, Coca-Cola Starlight, which features a reddish hue, “includes additional notes reminiscent of stargazing around a campfire, as well as a cooling sensation that evokes the feeling of a cold journey to space.”

Ah, yes, the flavor of stargazing. And here we thought the taste would be a mystery.

If you want to know what that might mean without actually drinking Starlight, one of our favorite food fan-sites, Candy Hunting, already got their hands on both the regular and Zero Sugar versions. They describe it as “Coca-Cola with added fruity and vanilla flavor,” possibly strawberry, marshmallow, and/or cotton candy. As for the cooling effect, it seems to be a far more subtle aspect of the drink’s flavor profile.

You can now find Coca-Cola Starlight in stores. It’s available in both 20-ounce bottles and ten packs of 7.5-ounce cans. Remember, though, it’s only a limited-release.

Of course, if it proves popular enough we wouldn’t be surprised if it sticks around. The question then would be whether that would mean the company keeps making it here on Earth or if it waits for the Coca-Cola Moon Store to open.
