The Book of Boba Fett featured episodes that seemed made for The Mandalorian season three. However, the third season of the first live-action Star Wars series hasn’t aired yet. We don’t know when The Mandalorian season three is coming, but it is in the works. And while the Disney+ series has featured some entertaining cameos and guest stars over its run, it’s about to see some serious sh*t. The Hollywood Reporter states Christopher Lloyd will star in The Mandalorian season three.

Keep in mind Lloyd’s role is only a rumor so far. His name is reportedly on the call sheet. And we don’t have any character details yet. However, The Hollywood Reporter adds “it has been described as guest star in nature.” Nerdist reached out to Lucasfilm for comment but has not heard back at the time of publication.

Filming for season three of The Mandalorian began in fall 2021. The show, starring Pedro Pascal as the titular character, will presumably pick up after the events of The Book of Boba Fett. This appearance would mark Lloyd’s first time in the Star Wars universe. But hopefully it won’t be the last time we see the Back to the Future actor exchanging a DeLorean for a speeder.

A guest starring role does make the most sense. To be clear, I’m all for seeing Christopher Lloyd in a recurring Star Wars role. Christopher Lloyd in any recurring role. But based on the show’s numerous cameos so far—including Richard Ayoade, Sasha Banks, and Michael Biehn among others—a guest appearance tracks. The Mandalorian‘s had a number of successful, “Hey I recognize that person” moments. Lloyd’s Mandalorian cameo might end up being the coolest of them all.

We’ll share more updates about The Mandalorian season three when we have them.
