May the 4th has brought a number of moments celebrating the Star Wars saga, but none is more special than this one. Carrie Fisher was honored on Thursday with a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Most known for her role as Leia Organa across the Star Wars original and sequel trilogies, Fisher passed in 2016. Her legacy lives on through her daughter, Billie Lourd, her grandchildren, and through thousands of Star Wars fans around the globe. Lourd and Mark Hamill, Fisher’s space twin, attend the ceremony and gave speeches honoring Carrie Fisher.

Lourd remembered her mom and spoke about how she lives on through everyone who loves Princess Leia. She recalled watching Star Wars and realizing, “No one is or will ever be as hot or as cool as Princess Leia.” She then sprinkled glitter on Carrie Fisher’s star since her mom loved glitter. And yes, Lourd’s dress featuring Carrie Fisher as Leia is perfect.

Hamill said he’ll never stop missing her, but that he’s grateful we had the time we had with her. And he’ll continue to be with her, in a way, as Hamill’s own star is only a few feet away.

Carrie Fisher deserves the world. We’re happy to see her star on the Walk of Fame and have no doubt that fans will soon make pilgrimages to it.
