You just can’t keep a good guy down. And you also can’t keep a beloved actor from reprising an iconic role. Especially when every viewer wants him to return. And that’s what fans will get with the new Child’s Play spin-off TV series from Syfy. Brad Dourif will be their friend ’til the end when he returns to voice the iconic killer on Chucky.

Syfy and the USA Network have announced (in news we first heard about at EW) what fans have been hoping to hear since they learned about the original spin-off series in 2018. The original voice of the psychotic plaything, Brad Dourif (Deadwood, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest), will once again bring Chucky to life. The actor played the role in the first seven films in the franchise. Mark Hamill voiced Chucky in the 2019 reboot. But Dourif was always viewers’ number one choice for the new series. He also makes the most sense. The show will play (pun intended!) off the original movies.

From Syfy:

“The setup for the new series finds an idyllic, modern American town thrown into chaos after a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, just as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of both enemies and allies from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who transformed into a notorious monster.”

Perfect. But honestly, the first promo was enough to have us excited.

Chucky, set to debut in 2021, comes from Don Mancini, who also directed the first episode. Mancini serves as executive producer alongside David Kirschner (Child’s Play, Hocus Pocus), Harley Peyton (Twin Peaks), and Channel Zero creator Nick Antosca.

No other cast members have officially been announced, but Dourif might not be the only one to return. Hopefully other beloved actors from the franchise remember to be fans’ friends ’til the end too.
