Breaking! A Joan of Arc movie, titled Jehanne d’Arc, is on the way, and it’s coming from, drumroll please, Baz Luhrmann. Honestly, we couldn’t have picked a better director for a Joan of Arc movie. We’re sure it will be extravagant and lushly surreal. It’s what any good woman warrior tale deserves. (We’re also keeping our fingers crossed that it’s a queer film.) For now, we just know the broad strokes of Luhrmann’s Joan of Arc movie—that it will tell the tale of a young French peasant who believed God commanded her to lead an army that would save France from the Hundred Years’ War.

No more specific plot than that has been released so far. But casting for Jehanne d’Arc has begun. A casting call notes that it’s seeking a young woman to play, “the ultimate teenage girl coming of age story, set in the Hundred Years’ War.”

Well, if Luhrmann needs inspiration for his Joan of Arc movie, we’ll just point him to Chappell Roan’s performance of “Good Luck, Babe!” at the 2024 VMAs.

We can’t wait to hear more about this movie. Maybe Roan can come aboard for the soundtrack.
