A takeout container of blue noodles appeared Andor’s debut episode for only a few seconds, but when has that ever stopped something in Star Wars from becoming iconic? Especially if it’s blue food. The noodles, known as Gormaanda’s glowblue noodles in the official Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge cookbook, join the ranks of blue milk and the alcoholic blue spotchka. Andrew Rea of the popular YouTube channel Binging with Babish tried out the official recipe to replicate the noodles. Then, he gave it a bit of an upgrade. You can watch his process in the video below.

Both recipes use blue butterfly pea flowers to dye the noodles blue. You essentially make a tea out of the flowers, which gives the color without the chemicals of food coloring. The official recipe uses packaged noodles. It seems quick and easy, with a simple Alfredo-like sauce to pour over the noodles. But Rea isn’t too impressed with the flavor. He decides to go the extra parsec and make it fancy enough for a Mon Mothma dinner party.

At first, it seems like the fancier version of Andor‘s blue noodles may be way too complicated for the average Star Wars fan’s cooking abilities. Rea eventually bails on his initial attempt at making fresh noodles when the dough turns into an inedible non-Newtonian substance. But once he gets it right, piping noodles into hot water and slurping up the glittery blue results does look like a lot of fun. After he stir-fries it with some onions and mushrooms, plus a quick sauce and some toasted sesame seeds, we started salivating.

This isn’t the first Star Wars recipe Rea has tackled on Binging with Babish. Jon Favreau even joined him to make blue milk macarons that are a favorite of Baby Yoda. Other pop culture culinary creations include Ted Lasso’s delicious biscuits and Cheetos root beer noodles from The Simpsons.
