Ladies and gentlemen, can we please have your attention. We’ve just been handed an urgent and horrifying news story, and we need all of you to stop what you’re doing and listen: Ron Burgundy is back with his very own podcast.

We know what you’re thinking. Ron Burgundy really has a podcast? I don’t believe you. It’s true, though, so don’t act like you’re not impressed. This past December, iHeartRadio previewed a brief 25-second teaser with Will Ferrell in character as his famous Anchorman newsman.

The official description for the show is everything you’d want and expect from Ron Burgundy trying to adapt to a modern form of communication that he definitely doesn’t understand.

“Each episode has a different theme in which Ron engages in conversation with another notable person on the topic at hand. In true Ron Burgundy fashion, these conversations have a tendency to go off the rails, and we find out things about people we never knew we wanted to know.

In Season 1, Ron addresses important issues like bullying and the mind-expanding nature of meditation, and attempts to ultimately answer the question ‘seriously, what is a podcast?'”

If you’re unsure if you want to dive into his first full episode, which runs 48 minutes long, a trailer for the inaugural season offers a great idea of the tone and content of the podcast, which includes plenty of examples of Ron telling ridiculous stories from his own life.

Yeah obviously we want to listen to the actual podcast, and the first episode is a real doozy for someone with Ron’s news instincts: True Crime.

“Ron takes a stab at the most popular genre of his new chosen medium—the True Crime podcast. The tales he unfolds and his interview with a criminal psychologist are positively bone chilling.”

Wow, we never knew true crime covered movie reviews. Also, tell us what other newsman can offer such personal insights into a confessed killer. You can’t. And kudos to Ron for solving the Zodiac Killer case. We knew it.

How much you enjoy the podcast will probably depend on how much you enjoy the comic sensibilities of the Anchorman movies, so it’s not exactly breaking news to report we already think this podcast is a big deal.
