A SUPERNATURAL Reunion on TIMELESS Sends Misha Collins into the Past

A SUPERNATURAL Reunion on TIMELESS Sends Misha Collins into the Past

Well this is quite a nice surprise! Former Supernatural colleagues Misha Collins and Eric Kripke are teaming up once again! But not in the way that you think. Wait, calm down. Take a deep breath. Before you hyperventilate, no, Kripke is not returning to the long-running CW series that he created and ran for the first five seasons. But Collins is joining his former boss’ new NBC series Timeless in a guest starring role, which is pretty much the next best thing if we can’t have a Kripke-led Supernatural season. (Is that still off the table? Can we put it back on the table?)

Collins has joined Kripke’s time travel series as historical figure Eliot Ness in the upcoming episode, “Public Enemy No. 1.” He may not be playing an angel, but it certainly sounds like he’ll be wearing a trench coat since he’ll be playing one of the most iconic men from 1931 Chicago. I mean, honestly, if he doesn’t wear a trench coat then that’s going to be a huge missed opportunity for all involved.

The CW

The episode featuring Collins centers on Flynn (Goran Višnjić) time traveling all the way back to the Great Depression era to partner with the infamous Al Capone (guest star Cameron Gharaee). Lucy (Abigail Spencer), Wyatt (Matt Lanter), and Rufus (Malcolm Barrett) follow him and ally with the only man who can bring Capone down: Ness, leader of the famous Untouchables, a group of nine U.S. federal law enforcement agents who worked from 1929 to 1931 to catch Capone. Their strategy of aggressively enforcing Prohibition laws against Capone’s empire earned them the reputation of being incorruptible and downright legendary. Since this episode takes place near the end of their campaign against Capone, expect to see some major action.

“When the Eliot Ness character first came up, I immediately thought of Misha, and I’m so thrilled to be working with him again,” executive producer Kripke said. “Misha brings his charisma, his talent, and frankly, all of his angelic qualities to the role.”

The CW

Collins is currently filming his Timeless episode now (both Timeless and Supernatural film in Vancouver, so it’s unlikely that his time on Timeless will affect his time on Supernatural). “Public Enemy No. 1” is slated to air Monday, February 13.

But before Collins brings Timeless to the old school gangster era, the NBC series returns tonight from its winter hiatus and will air for–rejoice!–six uninterrupted weeks. This week’s episode, “The World’s Columbian Exposition,” takes Lucy, Wyatt and Rufus to Chicago again but back even further when she’s taken captive by Flynn and brought to the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair. In their dogged pursuit of Lucy, Wyatt and Rufus fall into a sinister trap, and none other that Harry Houdini may be the only person who can save them.

The CW

Collins and Kripke only overlapped on Supernatural for seasons four and five, when the mythology of angels was first introduced on The CW’s longest running show. Collins has since become a series regular on-and-off.
