Lifetime movies are certainly… interesting. Which, don’t get me wrong—that’s not an insult. There’s nothing I love more than unwinding with a bizarro Lifetime Christmas movie during the holidays. Or getting lost in a marathon of mayhem and murder mysteries during the fall. It’s a network that knows its audience and delivers every time.
But one upcoming movie has me a little more suspicious than usual. You see, Lifetime is about to making a movie with KFC. As in, Kentucky Fried Chicken. It’s called A Recipe for Seduction and no, I’m not making this up. There’s a trailer and everything. Oh, and it stars Mario Lopez. Because of course it does. Let’s check this thing out.
So not only is Mario Lopez starring in this thing, but he’s also playing a sexy Colonel Sanders. Because sure, why not? Here’s the full plot synopsis for A Recipe for Seduction from Lifetime:
As the holidays draw near, a young heiress contends with the affections of a suitor handpicked by her mother. When the handsome chef, Harland Sanders, arrives with his secret fried chicken recipe and a dream, he sets in motion a series of events that unravels the mother’s devious plans. Will our plucky heiress escape to her wintry happily ever after with Harland at her side, or will she cave to the demands of family and duty?
That sure sounds like a lot! Fortunately—or perhaps unfortunately—A Recipe for Seduction is not a full-length film. It’s a “mini-movie,” whatever that means. A long and kind of sexy commercial for KFC? Probably. In a year like 2020, it’s frankly what we deserve.
Lifetime
I’m gonna have the words “secret’s out, chicken man” in my head for the rest of the year and I’m not happy about it.
A Recipe for Seduction airs this Sunday, December 13 at noon on Lifetime.
