8 MCU Characters Who Deserve Their Own TV Series

With the big announcement that Scarlet Witch and Loki are getting series on the upcoming Disney Streaming service, it opens up a world of possibilities for other MCU characters from existing films to get their own shows as well. But who could (and should) be next? Here’s our top eight choices for Marvel characters ready to make the transition to the small screen.

Hawkeye starring Jeremy Renner

With Black Widow soon to get her own movie, that leaves Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye as the only original Avenger left without a solo vehicle of any kind. It stands to reason this new Disney Streaming series idea would be the perfect fit for Hawkeye, a character whose adventures veer ground-level. We still know little of his background, and what better way to explore who Clint Barton really is? This one simply has to happen.

Valkyrie starring Tessa Thompson

One of the big unanswered questions left by Avengers: Infinity War was: What the heck happened to Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie? She was last seen on the Asgardian ship at the end of Thor: Ragnarok, and was then missing at the start of Infinity War. The Russo Brothers have assured fans she is safe, but a series detailing what happened to Valkyrie (and Korg, who could be her sidekick) could make for an amazing series. And if it were directed by Taika Waititi, that would be even better.

The Vision starring Paul Bettany

The Vision is one of the coolest characters in the Marvel pantheon, but he hasn’t had a ton of solo material to draw from for his own series. There is one great exception to that though: writer Tom King’s Vision limited series from 2015. In that story, the Synthezoid hero decided to build himself a family unit in a desperate quest to be human. This could be an incredible choice for a limited series, and give Paul Bettany so much to play with as an actor.

Princess Shuri of Wakanda starring Letitia Wright

One of the breakout characters from Black Panther was his sister Shuri, played by actress Letitia Wright. She has already been confirmed by Kevin Feige to be the smartest character in the MCU; a mini-series focusing on Princess Shuri of Wakanda would be just what the doctor ordered, and could maybe even have her take over the role of Black Panther temporarily, as she once did in the comics.

Ant Man and the Wasp (Retro Version) starring Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer

Yes, there is already an Ant-Man and the Wasp movie series, and there is sure to be a third entry. But how about a series where we get to see Henry Pym and Janet Van Dyne in their youthful hero days? We could have Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer in the present, working on cases that prompt flashbacks (starring younger counterparts) to how they met and became superheroes together. Scott and Hope are great, but Marvel fans deserve to see Hank and Janet in action too.

The Mighty Thor starring Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman is easily one of the biggest names in the MCU, but she was underserved as a character in the first two Thor films, and as such opted out of the third entirely. But in recent comics, the character of Jane Foster was given a new lease on life when she temporarily became the new Thor. Even more interesting was that Jane was sick with cancer when human, and only healthy as the God of Thunder. This would give an actress of Portman’s caliber something more to chew on that she had in the previous films.

The Falcon starring Anthony Mackie

Although there are rumors he might be replacing Captain America at some point, we think that Sam Wilson is much cooler as his own hero, the Falcon. He’s basically been Cap’s wingman in the movies (quite literally, actually), so it would be nice to see him shine outside the confines of an ensemble movie.

The Incredible Hulk starring Mark Ruffalo

This could be the biggest Marvel series by far. While Marvel Studios can’t make a standalone Hulk movie without Universal’s involvement due to rights issues, they can make a television series. In fact, Marvel was working on a Hulk TV series with Guillermo del Toro a few years back. The Hulk had his biggest success to date while on television back in the days of Bill Bixby, and  Mark Ruffalo’s iteration deserves such a spotlight. This could also be an ideal way to introduce Bruce Banner’s cousin, giving us our long awaited She-Hulk.
