Oh snap: according to Laura Prepon’s Instagram account — and also, y’know, the good folks over at Netflix — Orange is the New Black will return for a third season . All of this before Season 2 has even premiered? Somebody up there in the Netflix cloud loves us, you guys.
Early on Monday morning, Laura Prepon took a snap of a title board for Season 3, affixing the following caption to it: “It’s official!! Season 3!! #oitnb #alexvause #backtothebighouse.” It’s an interesting way to officially announce the new season, as Prepon was a guest star through most of the dramedy’s first season, and (due to scheduling issues) will only appear in four episodes of the second season.
But Prepon’s been very vocal about wanting to do anything and everything she can to appear full-time in the until-now hypothetical third season — and her rabid fanbase has echoed that sentiment — so it’s actually a pretty nice thing for Netflix to do, as it speaks directly to the hyper-fan engagement on the series’ potential future. Now if June 6th could just hurry up and get here already.
