WIN A Copy of Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s DON JON

WIN A Copy of Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s DON JON

He’s just been announced as the director and star of the upcoming Sandman graphic novel adaptation, but Joseph Gordon-Levitt is no stranger to being in front of AND behind the camera. This year saw the release of the talented multihyphenate’s screenwriting-directing debut, Don Jon, a film that looks at the ridiculousness of love, sex, dating, and the media. Gordon-Levitt’s impressive first feature is on a number of critics’ top tens and has been nominated for Best Screenplay at the Independent Spirit Awards.

The film follows Jon (Gordon-Levitt), an image-conscious porn-watcher from New Jersey who meets a girl (Scarlett Johansson) who’s seen way too many Hollywood romantic comedies. Each of them has a skewed idea of what a relationship would be like, but it’ll take finding common ground for them to truly find intimacy and happiness. The cast also includes Julianne Moore, Tony Danza, Glenne Headley, and Brie Larson.

If you’d like to be one of two winners of this acclaimed independent film from one of Hollywood’s smartest people, all you have to do is have a valid email address and tell us in the comments below which Joseph Gordon-Levitt performance is your favorite and why. That’s it! It’s as simple as pie. Give yourself this Christmas present; you’ve earned it. You’ve only got until midnight on Tuesday, December 31st, or your chances will be as gone as 2013. But, look on the bright side, if you miss out, that’s also the day the Don Jon Blu-ray and DVD come out.

  1. My favorite Joseph Gordon-Levitt role is Chris Pratt in The Lookout.

  2. Chris says:

I loved him in Looper. Great performance as he played a fairly convincing younger version of the Bruce Willis character.

  3. Amanda De Mey says:

I loved him in 50/50. That movie is just an awesome mix of comedy and tragedy.

  4. Dustin says:

His performance in Looper was inspired. He was pretty convincing as a younger Bruce Willis.

  5. Kari Pope says:

He delivers EVERY time. I love him in “Inception”, but to be able to give a dead on impression of Bruce Willis in “Looper”?! Amazing!!

  6. Kari Pope says:

He delivers EVERY time. I love him in “Inception”, but to be able to pull off a dead on impression of Bruce Willis in “Looper”?! Amazing!!

  7. Michelle Campbell says:

I loved him in Looper. He has such a wide range of acting. He is one of the best actors right now. Loved him in Third Rock From the Sun also. You could tell he was going to be something special.

  8. Scott says:

Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s performance in (500) Days of Summer was so refreshing. I had just gotten out of a rough relationship with a girl. I was hurt and angry and still very much in love. Tom’s journey throughout the film was something that I had experienced for myself. Although it showed how rough a relationship can be, it did not allow itself to end on a negative note. It helped me move on. Not many movies can do that.

  9. maayanzil says:

my favorite JGL role was the guest performance he had on “That 70’s show” (S1 Ep11) where he was a gay kid with a crush on Eric Forman. because if there’s anything more sexy than JGL, it’s a gay JGL. :)

  10. Mike Travers says:

I’d have to say Third Rock From the Sun.

  11. Terri says:

Loved JGL in The Lookout, well I also loved him in 500 Summers & the Batman movie or gosh I can’t decide. He is excellent in everything he does!

  12. David Swykk says:

I pretty much love all of Levitt’s movies, so this is a tough choice. He’s amazing in Looper, one of the best movies I’ve seen in years. His performance in The Lookout (if you haven’t seen it, do so immediately) is great too, but my favorite is Levitt as Neil McCormick in Gregg Araki’s adaptation of Mysterious Skin. He brings Neil to life and helps give both soul and sorrow to a movie that is equally beautiful and disturbing. He and Brady Corbet’s Brian Lackey deal with the same issue very differently. It’s kind of a perfect movie filled with perfect performances–most notably Levitt’s.

  13. Eric Clay says:

I loved his performance in 50/50. Gave me all the feelings, and cried through most of the second half of the film.

  14. Keith says:

Brick’s gotta be my favorite JGL performance.

  15. John Stevens says:

My favorite performance of Joseph Gordon-Levitt is that of Chris Pratt from The Lookout. He was excellent in that movie with his delivery and choices. Genius.

  16. Kyle Burton says:

Loved him in Dark Knight Rises, so cool

  17. Scott Key says:

I haven’t seen it yet and it looks awesome!

  18. Valerie says:

Although there’s so many good movies that JGL is in, my favorite performance of his is (500) Days of Summer because of the way he captures all the stages of heartbreak after a failed relationship.

  19. Dan Costa says:

    Jgl was great in looper

  20. Eric Augst says:

Probably 500 Days of Summer because it was his most relatable role.

  21. R. says:

I liked his performance in “The Lookout” It was both tender and intense.

  22. Miguel Sousa says:

The Lookout…just an unseen gem where JGL really starts his ascent to being one of the better actors in Hollywood.

  23. Ken C says:

For some of us guys, this uncomfortable truth in this film might hit a little closer to home… also, as lovable as he is, JGL surprisingly played a very convincing douchy character!

  24. Brent Fonville says:

He was great in Looper and Inception, but Angels in the Outfield will always hold a special place in my heart. :)

  25. Patrick A. White says:

So as I am trying to figure put what my favorite performance is by Joeseph I came to the realization, you ant just pick one. They all are amazing in their own way. You can’t compare each of them because his characters are diffrent which shows his acting capability! I think in the next couple years heis going to be BIG. He Already is BIG but I mean BIGGER. As an insipring director and screenplay writer he really has opened the door up to everyone with his Hit Record website and everything it stands for. So as I come to a close on this comment I don’t think I can pick one. His acting, directing, writing, and producing capability is beyond what most people wish they could have.

  26. James Erickson says:

300 Days of Summer, well acted by him and Zooey Deschsnel. Thoughtful acting that shows the friendship they share both on and off screen.

  27. stacy wright says:

“Latter Days”… He’s the guy you just love to hate, but can’t (mainly because it’s JGL :) )

  28. Brittany says:

I would have to say 50/50

  29. Scott Martin says:

While I did love him in Don Jon, I would have to say 500 days of summer was my favorite movie of his. I purchased 3 copies in addition to my own for a few of my friends. It was a fantastic film and his performance alongside Zooey made this a must see. We have been following his work with hitrecord and can’t wait for his role of Dream.

Don Jon would be a great addition to my movie coection, so if I don’t win this, I’ll be purchasing it regardless!

  30. Claudia V. says:

I will freely admit my fan girl doting ways towards JGL!! lol I will have to say I loved him in Brick the most, but Hesher was an interesting departure from other more charming roles he has had in the past. Cause let’s face it, He’s so freaking charming!

  31. Sara M says:

While I love EVERYTHING Joseph has done, I’d have to go with the first time I fell for the guy on the big screen: 10 Things I Hate About You!

  32. Michael says:

Angels in the Outfield. I was a huge baseball fan growing up so a movie with him, Danny Glover and Christopher Lloyd is an instant classic.

  33. theora Palmer says:

500 days of summer. I like the ranged genre mixing, the ability to relate,& the music.

  34. jennifer cates says:

Favorite performance is his lip synch of on the jimmy fallon show.

  35. Paul Ellett says:

It might be a common choice but I still watch 500 Days of Summer and find myself toying with whether Tom was in the right or wrong. It’s the first film which properly made me a JGL fan boy and I still rewatch it every couple of months. In fact I wrote my university dissertation on it which was really fulfilling and got me watching more films which have since become some of my favourites like Annie Hall and The Graduate. So many scenes get me but most of all the way Tom turns away from Summer in the last scene on the bench. However if you want to see more great JGL performances, check out The Lookout and Mysterious Skin, both very different but tremendous in their own ways.

  36. Heather says:

My favorite JGL film is Brick. I love how he is able to combine the film noir mystery standards with a high school drama. I never get tired of watching this movie!

  37. Will says:

Looper! One of the best modern Sci-fi films!!

  38. Andrea says:

My favorite Joseph Gordon Levitt character was in 10 things i hate about you. He was super adorable, and it was that character that taught me to always go with the nerdy boys.

  39. Chris says:

Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Robin was the best part I could think of for him. he just “fit” that role perfectly

  40. Daniel says:

Mysterious Skin because it was brave and dark.

  41. Chris says:

Mysterious Skin, because it was revelatory to see how far the kid from “3rd Rock From the Sun” and “10 Things I Hate About You” had advanced his craft.

  42. Nick Fournier says:

My favorite Joseph Gordon-Levitt movie is 50/50. I think the movie in itself is extremely overrated. Joseph gives an amazing performance full of emotion and laughs. The movie has everything and it’s clearly shown that Joseph gives his all. I could watch it everyday of life and never tire from it.

  43. Josh says:

Brick. Fantastic Rian Johnson noir throwback with JGL in the lead.

  44. Mo says:

Love this guy! his work in Rian Johnson’s “Brick” was as good as Bogart in classic Noir films from the 30s.

  45. Stephanie says:

I first fell in love with JGL in Third Rock from the Sun!! Anyone that age who can hold their own opposite John Lithgow is awesome sauce in my book!

  46. Tiffany Harrell says:

My favourite JGL performance was in “Brick”… It was complex and he made you feel his turmoil.

  47. Tim says:

    I loved him in Looper!

  48. Megan says:

He’s a cutie patootie with a good head on his shoulders and an eye for art, what more could a girl ask for? He’s the ultimate Christmas present!

  49. JD B says:

Looper is my fav, I think he did a good job overall but also his portraying a younger Bruce Willis seemed really solid to me.

  50. Jessica says:

Tough call, but I think I have to go with her performance in ‘Brick’. Such a great movie and some great acting from JGL.
