Bruce Willis is the heavy in this trailer for the underworld thriller The Prince, starring Jason Patric (The Lost Boys, Flatliners), John Cusack, 50 Cent (Get Rich of Die Tryin’), and Rain (Ninja Assassin, Speed Racer).
Brian A Miller directed this film about a man with special skills who’ll have to find the men who took his daughter. And then bad things start to happen to some bad people. Miller is a writer-director who has also acted in his previous films, The Outsider and House of the Rising Sun.
That odd-as-hell cast alone is worth giving the trailer a look.
Here’s what it’s about:
“A mechanic (Patric) with ties to the underworld is unwittingly drawn back into the life he gave up when he suspects that his daughter has been kidnapped, and he is forced to confront his former rival (Willis) in order to rescue her.”
Could Willis be entering his methodical bad guy phase? The actor has been visibly bored in some of his recent films (the last two Die Hards could have been subtitled “Contractual Obligation Parts 1” & “2”), and it’s been a while since we’ve seen him really dig into a role. Maybe in the way Pulp Fiction added some new life to his career 20 years ago, a major, meaty part in a thriller like The Prince will let the actor flex some of those long-unused muscles.
Hell, the entire trailer is a showcase of “actors who need another chance.” Now I’m kind of rooting for it.
The Prince will be in theaters and OnDemand August 22nd.
