With all the talk happening these days regarding Marc Webb’s upcoming sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man, it’s a wonder how anyone can find the energy to even think about the third film in the series, which Webb was recently confirmed to be directing. The team behind the film found a way during a live Google chat yesterday.
One of the big questions about the series is when fans can expect to see the constant thorn in Spidey’s side, J. Jonah Jameson, in Webb’s universe. Webb answered with the following, which was picked out and transcribed thanks to ComingSoon.net: “I like the idea very much of him coming up in the next film. It was more easy to accept a new Spider-Man than someone who could out do J.K. Simmons in that role, he is so iconic. That’s something we’ve really talked about. Obviously I love that character because he poses such an interesting dilemma for Spider-Man. The answer is I don’t know, but I think you can expect to see him in the future.”
He is right about J.K. Simmons, who killed it as head of The Daily Bugle during Sam Raimi’s stab at the Spider-Man universe. Who could top him is anyone’s guess, but it is nice to know the character hasn’t been forgotten.
So who do you guys think would be the right move for bringing Jameson into the new Spidey age?
