If one of your favorite cinematic traditions is the classic bait-and-switch, then Uncharted 3 should have you hooked right from the start. The 2011 game, aptly subtitled Drake’s Deception, from writer and director Amy Hennig thrives on a premise of misdirects, elaborate set pieces, and exceptional world and character building. All of these points are detailed in Nerdist’s latest What You Missed by Not Playing video.
If you indeed never did pick up a copy of Uncharted 3, the game surrounds the adventures of Nathan Drake and perennial partner-in-crime Sully as they search for the lost city of Ubar, with the villainous Marlowe hot on the very same conquest. Of course, that’s a terribly simple way of summing up what is an incredibly complex and multifaceted plot. But our own Malik Forte more than does Uncharted 3 justice in his rundown of the ’round-the-world cat and mouse game.
As per tradition of our video series, Malik doesn’t hold back on the spoilers as he barrels through every conceivable plot turn you’ll find in Uncharted 3. And never before has his pre-video “I Spoil Everything” warning been quite so pertinent; Uncharted 3 is riddled with twists, which of course are best experienced for the first time mid-gameplay, but are nonetheless duly surprising in Malik’s above walkthrough.
In case you’ve been putting off playing the game for the past five years, this should serve as a reminder that Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception is more than worth your time. Even if you did spoil a few of the bigger surprises for yourself with our latest What You Missed video, actually playing the game itself should prove duly satisfying.
