Breaking Bad, Mad Men, The Walking Dead. Let’s not beat around the bush here and just admit we all love AMC programming. It’s got that thing– that thing that makes you want to come back week-after-week (live) to see what happens next. Now, with the first part of Mad Men’s final season coming to an end and no new Walking Dead until this October, the basic-cable network’s making the first episode of its newest series Halt and Catch Fire available for free to all viewers ahead of its June 1 premiere.
You can watch the episode on AMC’s website here.
For those unfamiliar, the plot synopsis of Halt and Catch Fire, according to AMC, is as follows: “Set in the early 1980s, this series dramatizes the personal computing boom through the eyes of a visionary, an engineer and a prodigy whose innovations directly confront the corporate behemoths of the time. Their personal and professional partnership will be challenged by greed and ego while charting the changing culture in Texas’ Silicon Prairie.”
What it sounds like is HBO’s Silicon Valley with a hint of Texas attitude. I’d say that we could get behind that. The trailers for this one have been looking exciting and astounding. If AMC was looking for a new hit, they may have just found it here.
Starring Lee Pace, Scoot McNaire and Mackenzie Davis, Halt and Catch Fire premieres Sunday, June 1 at 10/9c on AMC.
