The new season of AMC’s The Walking Dead is now underway, and with it of course the new season of Talking Dead, just as zombification follows bite. Fans got to see how Rick and the crew got out of the sticky situation they were in at the end of Season 4 (we showed you the first four minutes of the premiere yesterday) and see the fresh hell that will befall everyone this year aboard the train yard called Terminus. (Just some advice: the word “Terminus” does not imply a very long and fruitful life, so maybe don’t decide to hitch your wagon to it.)
Over the weekend, at New York Comic-Con, Chris Hardwick hosted a panel about the series (because, come on, who else would even dare?), the upcoming season, and how everything’s changed since last year. In attendance for the panel are Executive Producers Robert Kirkman, Scott Gimple (still the showrunner and writer of episode one), Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero (who directed the opener), and stars Andrew Lincoln (Rick), Steven Yeun (Glenn), Lauren Cohan (Maggie), Michael Cudlitz (Sgt. Ford), Danai Gurira (Michonne), Melissa McBride (Carol), Chad Coleman (Tyreese), Sonequa Martin-Green (Sasha), and of course everybody’s favorite crossbow aficionado Norman Reedus (Daryl).
Not that’s a pretty hefty panel of people, and we could attempt to summarize the whole thing for you here, but why would we do that? Seems unnecessary when Charlie Schneider, proprietor of Emergency Awesome and a member of the Nerdist Alliance, went to the trouble of filming the whole durn thing himself? So, below is the 50 minute panel which picks up right after the four minute clip of the opening was shown.
Let’s everybody thank Charlie for doing that by subscribing to his great YouTube channel Emergency Awesome, and watch The Walking Dead on Sundays at 9/8c on AMC, followed by Talking Dead at 10/9c, all season long.
