Watch the DOWNTON ABBEY Folks Wield Lightsabers in this STAR WARS Mash Up

What if I told you the cast of Downton Abbey had lightsaber showdowns during their down time on set? Would you believe me? Probably not, but as you’ll see in the above video, it is absolutely true. Filming an exclusive clip using only his iPhone, actor Rob James-Collier–who you’ll recognize as the actor that plays Downton’s despicable Thomas Barrow– and a couple of his cast mates created a Downton Abbey/Star Wars mash-up we never saw coming.

Collier kicks off the video explaining that the purpose behind creating the glorious mash-up clip is to help raise £10,000.00 for the Chiltern MS Centre Charity. He notes that while Downton Wars: Episode 1 – “The Phantom Valet” is a freebie, he’ll release another episode once the target goal is reached. As of right now, the project has raised a whopping £13,306.65, which is well over the initial goal. So, it looks like we’ll be seeing to Episode 2 “The Evil Butler Strikes Back” relatively soon.

DOWNTON WARS 04242015

While we’ve seen plenty of hilarious mash-ups in the past, there’s something special about this one in particular. We get to see a shifty Bates (Brendan Coyle) limping the halls donning a black cape. When his loving wife Anna (Joanne Foggatt) asks him what’s the matter he replies, “I feel a disturbance in the force.” To that she cheekily replies, “Ughhh. God, not this again. Are you sure it’s not just your irritable bowel.”? After scolding him for his ridiculous ideas and questionable cape, Bates heads down the hall and encounters Thomas.

When he asks him why he lurks in the dark, Thomas remarks, “It creates dramatic tension, my raison d’etre”. Then, they whip out their lightsabers and prepare for a duel–which of course Mr. Carson (Jim Carter) doesn’t approve of. While the episode ends after Carson tells them to get back to work, we can’t wait to see what the crew have in store for episode 2 and are curious to see whether the folks upstairs will be included in all the fun. As for us, we’re keeping our fingers crossed for a lightsaber-wielding Dowager Countess.

What did you think the mash up? Who do you want to show up next? Let us know in the comments below.
