Report it and it will come. Yesterday in our triweekly Music Dispatch (Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) we let you guys know that Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz’s Edgar Wright directed the video for “Gust of Wind”, yet another collaboration track between Pharrell and Daft Punk (given Pharrell’s ungodly hitmaking productivity; I think it is now safe to say that Daft Punk is comprised of three robots).
“Gust of Wind”, from Pharrell’s GIRL is a gleaming disco track, perfect for these pre-winter months, and Wright’s music video totally knows it. The first scene features the megaproducer/R&B singer traipsing over a leaf-strewn hillside toward stone edifices that resemble Daft Punk’s robot helmets (or actual heads if you think they are actually cyborg overlords–they’re not). The boulders sort of remind me of the spaceships from Halo, and I half expected some Covenant grunts to come pouring out right at the beginning of the video.
Watching Pharrell dancing spiritually in the center of what must be Cirque Du Soleil dancer, I also couldn’t help but also be reminded of the “Age Of Aquarius” ending sequence from 40 Year Old Virgin. Its all those flowy costumes and the open, pastoral backdrop. I know it is easy to be sad about Edgar Wright stepping down from Ant-Man, but I feel like his autumnal music video for “Gust Of Wind” has really inspired new life in this song. Hopefully he will
BTW, if anyone knows where I can find the sweater that Pharrell is wearing for less than $100,000 euro, please let me know in the comments below. That shit looks SO comfy.
