Lana Del Rey has been dominating the post-Thanksgiving music news cycle; first came word of her upcoming spring tour with a certain Hole frontwoman (Courtney Love, cough cough) and now fans can sneak a listen to “Big Eyes,” the new theme song for Tim Burton‘s upcoming film of the same name.
As we mentioned a couple weeks back, Del Rey will be contributing two songs to the Burton flick about surreal portraitist Margaret Keane. In addition to the movie’s theme, fans can expect to hear another track called “I Can Fly,” which has yet to be released.
However, we do have a taste of the somewhat haunting title track, which is oddly reminiscent of “Mad World” by Tears For Fears. (Or, in case you’re a Donnie Darko fanatic, you’d probably remember the version by Gary Jules.)
Can you hear the similarity, too?
In other Lana-related headlines, the “Summer Sadness” singer announced dates for her upcoming Endless Summer Tour where she’ll join the one and only Courtney Love, who is readying a new album for next year.
Not surprisingly, the Love part of the tour only runs on the “West Coast,” which just so happens to be one of our favorite Lana songs. More East Coast dates are said to be coming soon. No word on whether she’ll write a tune that matches that leg, though.
