Next Sunday, millions of people will tune in to watch the 87th Annual Academy Awards hosted by the incomparable Neil Patrick Harris. We’ll be watching — and tweeting — too, especially when Benedict Cumberbatch inevitably photobombs someone. But before then, there’s a much more important awards ceremony that will take place: The 5th Annual Nerdist Movie Awards.
That’s right, it’s time to decide once more who will walk away with the coveted Golden Geek. But this time, we’re doing things a little bit differently…
The Academy Awards may be decided by a bunch of stuffy old white dudes, but now you can be the stuffy old white dude by voting on who wins this year’s Nerdist Movie Awards! (Note: you do not need to be stuffy, white, or a dude to participate; if you happen to be all three, then good for you, I guess.) Our editorial team fought hard for their picks to be nominated — stay tuned next week as the team gives thier reasons for the films and talent nominated. We’ll be naming our Editor’s Pick for “Movie of the Year” next Friday when we announce the winners of the voting categories below.
Here are the categories that need your obsessive nerd knowledge for voting:
Best Supporting Performance
Best Use of Music
Best Integration of Science
Most Anticipated Film of 2015
Voting will run until midnight on Thursday, February 19th. Winners will be revealed on Friday, February 20th.
Who are your top picks? Vote and then let us us know why you voted that way in the comments below!
