Happy Monday! Today is a holiday for some of you, but I’ll hope you’ll take a few minutes to digest the television news highlights from the weekend. Today’s TV-Cap includes a clip from the LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens short coming to Disney XD, a teaser from The Flash that’s Zoom-tastic, a clip from the next episode of The X-Files, and more.
A Rising Resistance. Star Wars: The Force Awakens is coming to television in the form of LEGO shorts. Yes, plural. The series is called LEGO Star Wars: The Resistance Rises, and the first installment is “Poe to the Rescue.” The above clip shows the usual LEGO humor and gags and looks delightful. The shorts take place before the events of The Force Awakens, and the first one debuts Monday, February 15 at 8p.m. ET/PT on Disney XD (after the Gravity Falls series finale). Personally, I’m pumped to hear and see more of BB-8. [Image: Disney XD]
This Is Interesting. Deadline reports another well known name is coming to Twin Peaks. Ashley Judd has joined the series in an unnamed role (because secrecy), but Eric thinks she’s playing Donna Hayward. Read about his theory here at Nerdist.
Small Screen Direction. Daniel Craig could be heading to television to star in the drama series Purity, based on the Jonathan Franzen book of the same name. Huh. Scott Rudin is on board as producer for the show, and they’re looking for a 20-episode order. No one has landed the series package just yet, but with Craig starring, offers have to be on the table. Stuck in a Basement. Fox’s The X-Files event is chugging along, and Monday’s episode will introduce Agents Einstein (Lauren Ambrose) and Miller (Robbie Amell). In the above clip from “Babylon,” they mention Mulder and Scully and their interesting jobs. Einstein pities Scully… if she only knew. [Nerdist]
Breaking It Down. Are you ready to tear apart all of Jimmy McGill’s questionable decisions? Or more precisely, are you ready to watch Chris Hardwick host a show that does just that? Good, because he’ll be hosting Talking Saul, the Better Call Saul after show. It will air on AMC after the season two premiere (Monday, February 15) and finale (Monday, April 18). The show will include special guests from behind the scenes and in front of the camera–special guests like Bob Odenkirk. [Nerdist]
Adventuring Again. There are so many remakes, reboots, and re-other things in the works I’d forgotten about Disney Channel launching a contemporary take on Adventures in Babysitting. The movie is coming to the TV network this summer with stars Sofia Carson and Sabrina Carpenter. The first trailer has some nods to the original film, but I expect some of the darker humor to be dialed back. [Slashfilm]
Villainous Intent. The last episode of The Flash put Barry right into the hands of Zoom. Yikes. Zoom wants Barry’s speed, and he could come close to winning. A trailer teases the next few episodes after the events on Earth-2, and it looks like we’re inching closer to Zoom’s true identity. [Nerdist]
Warning: Arrow spoilers ahead! Stop reading now if you didn’t watch the most recent episode.
Opposites… You Know. The Arrow cast genuinely seems to have fun with each other on set. Want proof? Watch this video of John Barrowman (Merlyn) and Katrina Law (Nyssa) dancing perfectly to Paula Abdul’s “Opposites Attract.” It’s hard not to dance along with them. [Nerdist]
Who do you think is under Zoom’s mask? Tell me your theories in the comments.
