TV-Cap: New LEGO STAR WARS Series Introduces Its Characters

Will we ever run out of new pieces of the Star Wars universe? It’s not happening anytime soon. In fact, this summer we’re getting a new animated LEGO Star Wars series. Get details on The Freemaker Adventures in today’s TV-Cap, and while you’re here, watch a teaser for next week’s Arrow, learn about a new show starring Sylvester Stallone, hear a Game of Thrones rap, and more.

Scavengers. The Star Wars galaxy will grow in size when LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures debuts on Disney XD on June 20. The animated series is set between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi and focuses on a new group of characters named the Freemaker family. There’s Rowan (Nicholas Cantu), Kordi (Vanessa Lengies), Zander (Eugene Byrd), and the droid Roger (Matthew Wood). Force-sensitive Rowan has discovered the Kyber Saber; the artifact’s connection to the Force throws the scavenging family into epic adventures around the galaxy, where they will of course run into familiar characters. Disney XD will have a premiere week for the show, dropping a new episode every day from June 20 through June 23.

He’s the Boss. Sylvester Stallone has kept busy with film over the years, but he’s making some time to star in his first ever television series. He’ll play Raymonde Aprile in Omerta; the series is an adaptation of a book of the same name by Mario Puzo, who wrote The Godfather. Naturally, Aprile is a mob boss. The series is just about ready to be shopped around, and I can’t imagine they’ll have hard time getting an order. [Nerdist]

No Kitten Around. Like felines and Game of Thrones? This art by Griselda Sastrawinata-Lemay and Normand Lemay, a.k.a. Griz and Norm, is for you. They’ve turned characters from around the Seven Kingdoms into cats. Yep. See an entire gallery of this glorious art here at Nerdist.

Oh No. Diggle has had to face the hard truth about his brother Andy’s shady allegiances in Arrow. The next episode, “Genesis,” will force the two brothers together, and things might get dark for Diggle. [Comic Book Resources]

Where’s the Football? Do you miss Charlie Brown and his group of weird but great friends? You’re in luck, because Peanuts will be back on our televisions on May 9—specifically on Boomerang—in the form of a series of animated vignettes. The cartoons are being developed by license-holders Normaal Animation of France. [Variety]

Musical Breakdown. What happens when you ask The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to recap the Game of Thrones premiere for you? He turns to The Roots and they put together a totally off-the-cuff, not-rehearsed rap that hits all the major beats in less than two minutes. [Nerdist]

Smartypants. National Geographic Channel has ordered its first ever scripted series. (I’m surprised it took them this long, actually.) Genius is an anthology drama that will focus on stories about, you guessed it, geniuses. Ron Howard will direct the first episode, and it will focus on Albert Einstein. [Deadline]

The Best Laid Plans… Things went awry all over the television last night, and we have recaps of two episodes where next steps didn’t go according to plan. Read our recaps of Orphan Black and The 100.

What do you think is ahead for John Diggle? Are you looking forward to more Peanuts? Give me a shout in the comments.
