Rejoice, Hornhead fans. Marvel’s Daredevil will return to Netflix for Season 2. The renewal makes me wonder how they’ll approach The Defenders. It didn’t seem likely that Daredevil or any other other series leading into The Defenders would get another solo run until after the team series was released. But now? I’m not sure, but I don’t care. I’m thrilled we’re getting more of an excellent show so soon. Keep reading to learn more about the Daredevil renewal, Galaxy Quest coming to television, how this season of The Vampire Diaries will end, and more.
Hell’s Kitchen Needs More Work. The Man Without Fear will keep fighting the good fight. Netflix has renewed Marvel’s Daredevil for a second season to air in 2016. Given the overwhelmingly positive feedback I’ve seen for the series, it’s not the most surprising news but Marvel has so many other Netflix series on the way that I wasn’t sure what the expect. Unfortunately, Steven DeKnight won’t be showrunner on the second season; instead, Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez are taking the reins (they worked on Season 1). [Nerdist]
By Grabthar’s Hammer. Has it really been over 10 years since Galaxy Quest was in theaters? Wow. Acquiring a cult following like the one Galaxy Quest has seems like it usually takes longer, but there’s just something about the crew of the NSEA Protector. And they haven’t taken their last flight. Paramount TV is reportedly shopping a Galaxy Quest television series around because why not? Co-writer Robert Gordon, executive producer Mark Johnson, and director Dean Parisot from the film are in talks to return, and they could take the television series in so many directions. [/Film]
Taking a Bow. Prepare yourself to be emotionally compromised, fans of The Daily Show. Jon Stewart has announced the date of his final episode and it’s not too far off: August 6. You can make a donation on Omaze and be entered to win tickets for the final taping. [The Hollywood Reporter]
No Waiting. A new evil is in town, and it’s visiting Season 2 of Penny Dreadful. Showtime’s elegant thriller returns on May 3, but you can watch it right now thanks to an early release from Showtime. Of course, it makes the stretch until the second episode longer but… [Nerdist]
Waters in Nanda Parbat. Ahhhh. It’s all happening in tonight’s Arrow. Ra’s al Ghul has finally found the leverage he needs to bring Oliver Queen into the League of Assassins. Thea is in mortal danger, and the Lazarus Pit awaits her. It’s like going to a spa–a spa that changes your very soul (pretend ominous music is playing over that sentence). [CBR]
Delena Feels. Mystic Falls won’t be the same soon. Nina Dobrev is departing The Vampire Diaries at the end of Season 6, and there aren’t many episodes remaining to wrap up Elena’s story. Entertainment Weekly got word from executive producer Julie Plec that the season will end with a flash forward. My guess is that Elena ends up taking the cure. If that’s not enough for you in the feelings department, watch a clip from this week’s episode at TVLine. Damon and Elena talk about a hypothetical future and it’s the sweetest.
Benny’s Back. Tonight’s Supernatural features the return of fan favorite Benny (Ty Olsson). Photos from “The Werther Project” make it look like Dean’s back in Purgatory and given everything that’s happened so far this season, I wouldn’t be surprised. See more pictures at TV Fanatic.
