It’s been nearly a week since we attended our first S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Valt-Tec lesson on Fallout 4. The first chapter was on the strength stat, so I hope you’ve been studying, because class is back in session. In today’s video (above), the folks at Bethesda have decided to teach us a thing or two about perception. Hover your mouse over the play button, and let’s begin!
When faced with the brutal wastelands of Fallout 4, you’ll probably recognize that strength isn’t exactly everything. You could run into a situation guns a-blazin’, but as the video indicates, doing so is liable to get you killed. Thankfully, we have the V.A.T.S system to rely on. What’s that, you ask? Well, it stands for Valt-Tec Assisted Targeting System, of course! It allows you to scan a threat, locate it’s weak spot, and take advantage of the situation. As this stat increases, so does your accuracy. Pretty nifty, eh?
Since taking out enemies isn’t all you’ll need to do to survive the great unknown, the video also demonstrates how perception is used to help you loot locations, small children, the elderly, and tough enemies. After practicing a bit, you’ll be a skilled scavenger before you know it.
That’s about it for today’s lesson, my fellow Vault-dwellers. I hope you were paying attention, because the next episode will cover the endurance stat. You’ve made it through two weeks of training, and have another five to go. As long as you pay attention, and study your notes, you’ll be ready to survive once Fallout 4 launches on November 10.
What did you think of the video? Are you pumped for Fallout 4? Let us know in the comments below.
