What did we have on the Nerdist Podcast Network this week? Hmm. Well, just these:
Benched and Happy Endings star Eliza Coupe was on the Nerdist Podcast because after she just absolutely killed it on @midnight, it just had to happen. And she does not disappoint, with tales of playing hockey in New Hampshire, journaling, OCD, and… okay, they talk about projectile ejaculate and spatulas in place spatulas don’t really fit. Yeah, you gotta listen.
Thomas Middleditch came on the Nerdist Podcast promoting the new season of HBO’s Silicon Valley, talking to Chris and Matt about playing games on Twitch, Chris’ return to PC gamong, and meeting the titans of the software world. They end up talking about Steve Wynn and gambling, too. Remember, bet with your head, not over it.
Grantland baseball writer and unofficial historian of the late, lamented Montreal Expos Jonah Keri returned to the Nerdist Podcast, and if you aren’t a baseball fan, you should definitely listen anyway, because it’s far from all about sports. Besides the grandeur of the League of Leagues, the ultimate fantasy sports thing (they draft players from any sport), Jonah prompts a discussion of the stock market, and then grills Chris about dealing with awkward social situations. And that ends up in a discussion of underrated ’80s movies, plus a bonus discussion of the Montreal concert at which Metallica’s James Hetfield got burned and Guns ‘n Roses walked off after four songs and prompted a riot.
Can’t get enough Jonah Ray? We had more Jonah than usual this week, with a live Jonah Raydio from Grill ‘Em All in Alhambra with Brendon Small, and then visiting Pro You to get back on the wellness track.
Nerdist’s own gaming expert Malik Forte visited Kumail and Emily on The Indoor Kids, and it’s all about Mortal Kombat and DLCs and stuff like that, which is what you want from Malik and Kumail and Emily.
If you’ve been captivated by the first season of Better Call Saul, you’ll want to check out Chuck McGill — Michael McKean — and showrunner Peter Gould plus writers Thomas Schnauz, Gennifer Hutchison, and Gordon Smith as they talk about the hit prequel to Breaking Bad on Nerdist Writers Panel.
Wendi Starling is the guest on Terrified, and the comedian opens up about some really serious stuff in her life. Anna goes solo as host this week, ’cause Dave’s not here. Meanwhile, video game voiceover ace Jennifer Hale joined Janet on The JV Club, and your urban legend needs were fulfilled by Bizarre States with a returning Jonny Loquasto as the special guest. David Gallaher returned to Comic Book Club, talking DC Convergence, namely Convergence: Green Lantern Corps.
Pete Holmes did a live You Made it Weird from Laughfest in Grand Rapids with Sean Donnelly, Joe DeRosa, Sara Schaefer, Sheng Wang, and Jared Logan. Frank and Sadie Doyle chased more ghosts and drinks on Thrilling Adventure Hour. And monogamy was on the menu as Dr, Tammy Nelson guested with Sex Nerd Sandra.
See? Lots of excellent stuff, if I do say so myself. Just go to the Nerdist Podcast Network homepage to listen and subscribe, and join us at the Nerdist Podcast Network Facebook page and you won’t miss anything. No excuses.
