Until the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice earlier this year, there was a nearly four decade gap between the last live-action appearance of Wonder Woman. Last week, the new trailer for Wonder Woman hit theaters, and we’re incredibly excited to see Gal Gadot‘s Amazon superheroine carve out a place for herself in the DC Extended Universe. But things have been so grim in the DCEU that perhaps the new Wonder Woman movie needs a touch of that ’70s era campiness.
YouTube user Sebastian Hughes has posted a video that mashes together the two previously released trailers for Wonder Woman set to the extended theme music from the Wonder Woman television series from 1975. There’s something innately hilarious about Charles Fox and Norman Gimbel’s Wonder Woman theme, and it’s arguably become more popular than the show that spawned it. Even when paired with the more serious take on Wonder Woman, the music just feels right and it made us laugh…a lot.
One of the main reasons that the Wonder Woman TV show is so fondly remembered is because of Lynda Carter‘s performance as the title character. She was really terrific in the role, even though the series had a lot of silly moments as well. Unfortunately, Carter won’t be making a cameo in the new film over some scheduling issues. However, the two stars, Gadot and Carter, recently appeared together at a United Nations ceremony honoring Wonder Woman as an honorary ambassador for women’s empowerment. But we’d still love to see them share the screen in the future!
