The Rock’s social media presence is often times funny, cool, and even inspirational. We can add another adjective to that list: informative. Yesterday, he posted a picture of himself on Instagram getting on a private jet as he wrapped filming his role of Hobbs in Fast and Furious 8. After thanking the cast and crew (well, MOST of the cast), he talked about how he had a two-week break before his next project, Jumanji.
Finished strong and on to the next. That’s an officially wrap on #FastAndFurious8. Thank you to our director @fgarygray for the vision and execution. Thank you UNIVERSAL for being tremendous partners as always, thank you to all my fellow co-stars for the daily effort and grind. Scott Eastwood you handsome sumbitch! Natalie Emmanuel I have a cold Budweiser ready for you and Tyrese Gibson you still have the biggest smile and forehead I’ve ever seen.😂 And a huge THANK YOU to our hard working production crew – the backbone of our business. Your kind words meant a lot to me last night – thank you! In the end, we all rallied, as great teams do, kicked ass and will deliver an amazing movie to the world. Proud of our entire FAST FAMILY. And now in two weeks I’ll reunite with ol’ friends Kevin Hart & Jack Black and we have the honor to introduce a whole new generation to the amazing world of #JUMANJI. *(for the record we are NOT making a reboot, but rather a continuation of the awesome JUMANJI story). It’s also crazy to me how much me, Kev and Jack look like triplets when we’re together. 👶🏽👶🏻👶🏿. Man this is gonna be FUN. #WheelsUp #ThatsAWrap #FromFastAndFurious #StraightIntoJumanji #BigBrownBaldTattooedMan #DarkChocolateComedicRockStar #BrillaintCrazyCurvyCaucasion #TheseHashtagsAreRidiculous #INeedSleepAndCARBS #ButIWillSettleForTequila
Jumanji will reunite him with his Central Intelligence co-star Kevin Hart, and will also see him sharing the screen with Jack Black (Goosebumps, Tenacious D). While it’s not news they are making the movie together, Rocky gave us some new info within the post. According to him, “for the record, we are NOT making a reboot, but rather a continuation of the awesome Jumanji story.”
I feel this is a smart move. Rather than have to live up to and be compared with Robin Williams (something I wouldn’t wish on anyone), Rocky, Hart, and Black will be able to tell their own story about the world’s WORST board game (or coolest, depending on your point of view). If you’ve seen the 1995 original, the game was last seen washed up on an unknown beach. Now it looks like we’ll find out what happens once someone finds it again. My main question is that if they utilize time-travel like they did in the first film, who would play the younger version of Dwayne Johnson? Seems like an almost impossible task.
Jumanji, directed by Jake Kasdan, is scheduled for release July 27th, 2017.
So what do you think? Are you excited to see where Rocky, Kevin, and Jack take the Jumanji lore? Let me know on Twitter or sound off in the comments below.
