While Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Captain America: Civil War are going to deliver big screen superhero battles next year, Daredevil Season 2 is bringing its own superhero showdown, with the addition of former Walking Dead star Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, a.k.a. the Punisher.
As noted in Nerdist News a few months ago, Daredevil Season 2 will essentially be Daredevil vs. The Punisher, with Élodie Yung’s Elektra acting as a wildcard in their conflict. Entertainment Weekly has unveiled a few new photos from the second season of Daredevil, with the first official look at Bernthal and Yung in character!
Judging from the following photo, it appears that Daredevil (Charlie Cox) came out on the losing end of a fight with Castle.
That situation appears to mirror an incident from Garth Ennis’ Marvel Knights Punisher run.

New Daredevil co-showrunner Doug Petrie indicated that the show won’t necessarily take sides between the title character and Bernthal’s ruthless vigilante.
“Viewers watching the show will be rooting for this guy with a gun but we’re also going to force people — the way we force Matt — to second-guess themselves,” said Petrie. “Taking lethal justice into your own hands in America in 2015 is tricky s–t. We have not shied away from the rich complicated reality of Now. If you’ve got a gun and you’re not the police you’re going to incite strong feelings. We’re stirring the pot and we’re aware of the headlines where we live and we’re trying to get people to think.”
