Only a week after debuting the first trailer for Captain America: Civil War, Jimmy Kimmel Live was once again the staging ground for the premiere of a new trailer for next year’s epic superhero beatdown: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
In the aftermath of Man of Steel, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) has a personal vendetta against Superman (Henry Cavill), Earth’s newest superhero who couldn’t protect the citizens of Metropolis from his fellow Kryptonians. As far as Wayne is concerned, Superman’s not that different from Zod (Michael Shannon).
Because Bruce Wayne is Batman, he is one of the few individuals on the planet with the resources and the skills to take down Superman…if he can. For his part, Superman’s alter ego, Clark Kent certainly has no reason to trust the Batman, especially since he’s on the Dark Knight’s hitlist.
The new Batman v Superman trailer plays up the conflict between the two heroes and gives fans a better glimpse of Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor, the young billionaire who hates Superman more than anyone else. And Luthor is only too happy to set Superman and Batman against each other in a confrontation that may prove disastrous to everyone but Luthor himself. The trailer also appears to feature the live-action debut of Doomsday, the nearly invincible alien brute who killed Superman in DC’s comic book universe.
Standing between Superman and Batman is Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), and the new trailer hints that she may be the key to bridging the gap between them so they can face their common enemy. After all, this is the “Dawn of Justice,” and the Justice League movie isn’t that far away.
Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice will be released on March 25, 2016.
